Our Story
The Proposal
January 24, 2020. Dinner & an Exhibit..
Like it was any other dinner, Tim came home from work and took a nap before getting ready. With a bag packed I was ready for dinner and our “staycation” Tim told me to pack for. Dinner was a surprise, but I had it narrowed down to 2 places in my head.
Kevin Rathbun’s Steakhouse
Where we had our 2nd first date - we had an amazing dinner. As we were finishing, Tim mentioned he had an after dinner surprise that we couldn’t be late to. In the car, he said that he remembered how I had never been to the High Museum and how I mentioned always wanting to go. … So as we pulled up in front of the High Museum, he said “Surprise! I have booked us a private tour of the current exhibit.”
The High Museum of Arts
Very excited, we walked inside. Tim took my coat and purse and handed it to a security guard…. Odd I thought - “Tim I don’t think he is the coat check.” I said. Tim didn’t say anything.
As I walked in, I could hear a harp playing. My first thought was, WOW, this is going to be an awesome exhibit! As I turned the corner an aisle of flowers led to flowers shaped in a heart. For a split second I thought, “Aww, someone is getting engaged.” Then realized, wait…. this is a private tour. As Tim led me down the aisle of flowers….. I kept asking him…. “Is this really happening??” With heartfelt words … that I honestly can’t remember because I was overwhelmed with emotions, he got down on one knee and pulled a black velvet ring box from his inside coat pocket.
I was literally shaking and crying … Yes, Yes, Yes! Then from behind pillars our friends emerged.
Cafe Intermezzo
Before having a moment to call family and friends, we were headed to Cafe Intermezzo for a celebratory drink. As we walked to the back, I couldn’t believe it…. there was all our family and friends.
To end the best surprises of all surprises - Tim says tomorrow we aren’t going to do a staycation - we are headed to the beach! The detail and planning he did was beyond amazing.
